I have never been popular. ive always wondered just what is it that makes someone like that? Its almost as if there is an aura around some people. There are some popular people on this site, i have noticed. And i agree with Foliedevoix that sometimes it doesnt seem right that they are popular. I dont think i could handle the spotlight of being so well liked and i definatley couldnt handle being the focus of attention. I have grown to realise that i am very much a one to one person and put in a group situation of adults i curl up and die!!
I think that SloshedAndVexed actually hit the nail on the head with saying that it helps to be beautiful. If we are thinking in terms of Darwinian theory then this makes sense.
Survival of the fittest may be the answer as I also read in a book that your height and weight make a significant difference to the way that people relate to you. A study was done in a primary school that showed children of an over average height and weight being deemed more popular.
This may be true. When i think about it, my two 'top dogs' at nursery one girl, one boy, are both larger than any other child. They arent fat...just bigger. Think sophie dahl (before she succummed to peer pressure).
and another striking similarity is that they are both kind, loving confident (bordering on bossy at that age) and FUNNY!
Humour and looks are two very important factors when being attracted to the opposite sex so maybe it is actually all about Darwin/procreation
